Education:

Research / Job Desription

Teaching:

Provide an overview of the importance of insects and the role they have played in the development of human society (Entomology 322). Provide relevant and current information on the biology and movement of insect populations in urban and structural environments (Entomology 403).

Extension:

Develop fundig sources to support extension programs in Urban Entomology, particularly for the development of training materials including publications, video-tape programs and slide presentations. Develop and implement integrated management programs for insects associated with structures that will effectively reduce pest populations while protecting humans, their companion animals, and the environment.

Research:

Achieve a balance between basic and applied research towards the management of urban insect pests. Specific emphasis will be placed on investigating the basic biology of pest species along with their parasites, predators and pathogens. Investigations into the efficacy of pesticides on pest populations in both laboratory and field studies will be made. Specific emphasis will be given to: ants, cockroaches, fleas, termites, flies, and other structural invading arthropods. Recruitment and retention of qualified graduate student will continue with additional emphasis given to international cooperation with colleagues in research and educational programs.
